Dr
Sinha was amongst the top 10 Indian scholars selected
in 1993 for the prestigious Cambridge Nehru Scholarship
for doing a Ph.D from Cambridge University, England.
At the Emmanuel College in Cambridge, he has worked
with the famous river basin expert Prof Keith Richards
on "Pollution and Environmental Policy in the
Ganga Basin: A Case Study of Heavy Metal Pollution
by Tanneries near Kanpur India". Apart from active
environmental research, Dr Sinha was involved actively
in teaching undergraduate and international postgraduate
students of M. Phil Environment and Development (E&D)
course. At Cambridge, Dr Sinha recieved numerous awards
and bursaries including a 'Cambridge Philosophical
Society Award' for a promising piece of research work
on the Ganga River.
Dr
Sinha has over 15 years of environmental work experience
in India and overseas. His interests lie in water
pollution and other environmental issues affecting
the lives of the common man in India. He has worked
at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany (BSIP),
Lucknow as a researcher working on sedimentation patterns
in the Chilka Lake, Orissa. Before joining ICEF in
1997, Dr Sinha was a consultant to UNDP, New Delhi
on various environmental projects.
Dr
Sinha has participated in several international conferences
and discussions on environmental issues. He is a Ph.D
thesis examiner on environmental issues for many national
level academic institutions. He is a life member of
the Indian Association of British Scholars and Cambridge
and Oxford Society of India. His hobbies includes
cartooning, travelling and current affairs.
